 | 10:56 pm - Discussion: Music... with random free tracks! ... because I miss posting, and I think it might be an interesting thing to get other people's thoughts on...
Last night Liam and I were talking about music, and came to a bit of a disagreement.
As far as music is concerned, I'm not fussy at all really. I'm not a music "buff" like a lot of my friends, who are into generally one type of music and are really REALLY into it and think everything else is shit. Although I do have genres/artists that I prefer, I'll listen to pretty much anything. The only thing I kind of draw the line at DJ Dickheads who speed up a classic song and then shit all over it with swearing and stuff.
I'm not one of those people who have to have music on all the time, I generally just put it on when I can't get a song out of my head or a feel like a bit of a sing-song or a dance. So, (and it might sound really bad - at least it did to Liam who thinks my attitude is 100% wrong) I don't really care if artists write their own songs/play their own instruments, or even if they can sing very well... as long as it sounds decent enough when I listen to it. Of course I respect artists that can do their own stuff in that way, but it doesn't mean that I'll necessarily like their music any better than someone who can't.
Liam was trying to come up with a definition of music, but he couldn't. I tried to tell him what MY definition of music was, and when we tried to look it up on Wikipedia there where several definitions that said what I was trying to say a lot better. For example:
Post-modern and other theories argue that, like all art, music is defined primarily by social context. According to this view, music is what people call music, whether it is a period of silence, found sounds, or performance.
Many definitions of music implicitly hold that music is a communicative activity which conveys to the listener moods, emotions, thoughts, impressions, or philosophical, sexual, or political concepts or positions.
I listen to music because of how it makes me feel. I generally enjoy songs more if I can relate to the lyrics, if it reminds me of a friend, or something that has happened in my own life, or if it makes me laugh. I like music that makes me feel something.
That's really as deep as I go when it comes to music.
So, what about you? How do you all view music? I have a feeling most of you are going to side with Liam on this.

 | 10:26 pm - Random, and a Meme Finally got my laptop looked at yesterday, and turns out it IS the socket that the charger plugs into that's broke, and that whatever is wrong is going to cost me about £50 to get fixed. *cries* Technology really does hate me.
I was in work from 7:15 till 6 today. It's just not right that I was up before 7 O'clock and now I feel like complete and utter shit. However, I was cheered up by a random text from Liam asking how my day had been. So he DOES remember me when he's away... :P
Because I love this meme, and it's making it's way around again, here's my Lyrics - don't even think about using Google - Meme. You know the drill.
( I forbid you to laugh at my taste in music...lol )

 | 10:12 pm - I'm bored. Does anyone else think this whole Russel Brand/Jonathon Ross thing has been blown way out of proportion? Yes, it was a bit immature and it was in bad taste (which I actually found quite funny) but I really don't think it warrants all this fuss.

 | 06:01 pm - Writing Update Random Het Kink Challenge @ erotic_elves (Ron/Hermione) - 1000 words written, just the actual sex scene left to write. It's not particularly exciting, but it's just something I've been using to entertain myself really and keep me writing between bits of the previous one. Due: October 15 - I think it should be done in time.
hp_yule_balls (Rare Pair) - 2300 words written and still going. I'm thinking it'll probably end up about 3500/4000. Due: November 15 - I'm quite sure that it'll be done well in time for the deadline.
bestmates_xmas (Ron/Harry) - NO PROGRESS! I'm starting to panic as I have no bunnies as of yet. Thankfully, the person I'm writing for isn't a friend or friend-of-a-friend, so I may be asking some of you for help/advice! Due: November 23 - *bites nails*
